Special Events
The Special Events Program is all about bringing our community together and drawing both residents and visitors to the vibrant heart of Pagosa Springs. From seasonal celebrations to lively local happenings, we create plenty of opportunities for people to enjoy what makes our town truly special. These events are not only a blast, but they also support our local businesses while showcasing the cultural charm and stunning natural beauty that Pagosa Springs is known for.
In 2024, we helped make two community events extra special: the July 4th Parade & Scavenger Hunt and Old Fashioned Christmas. While these events weren’t entirely driven by Main Street, our involvement played a key role in boosting their impact:
- July 4th Scavenger Hunt: This fun, interactive hunt was part of the Independence Day celebrations organized by Visit Pagosa and the Town of Pagosa Springs. We teamed up to create a scavenger hunt using the Visit Pagosa app and geolocation features. Participants explored various Main Street locations, and those who completed the hunt were entered to win one of 20 gift cards. Thanks to $2,000 worth of gift cards purchased from downtown businesses, we encouraged parade-goers to shop on Main Street after the parade was moved in 2024.
- Old Fashioned Christmas: Hosted by Tourism, this festive favorite saw us spreading warmth—literally! We handed out 1,400 handwarmers with a QR code linking to our Cone Zone mailing list, keeping folks informed about the CDOT Reconstruction Project. We also teamed up with Visit Pagosa to host a giveaway of 20 gift cards, totaling $2,000, all spent at downtown businesses, giving a little extra love to our local economy.
By supporting these events, we not only brought our community together but also invested $4,000 into local businesses. The gift cards helped boost foot traffic and strengthen the bond between residents, visitors, and the downtown area. It’s all about making Pagosa Springs a place where memories are made, businesses thrive, and everyone feels at home.
