Recently a colleague reminded me of a poem by Linda Ellis entitled, \u201cThe Dash\u201d.\u00a0 The heart of the poem focuses on the dash between the date of our birth and the date we die.\u00a0 \u201cWhat matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash,\u201d the poem says.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to state the obvious, every one of us will die. It is how we were created.\u00a0 But it is our journey along the way that matters.\u00a0 It is all of our experiences \u2013 good and bad, the memories we\u2019ve made with family and friends, the work we did and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

The journey doesn\u2019t end once you are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or choose hospice care.\u00a0 It\u2019s the beginning of a new journey.\u00a0 A journey that may be filled with compassion, tears, love, laughter, grief, anger, forgiveness and so many other emotions and feelings.\u00a0 Hospice celebrates and honors your journey and is by your side to help live out how you want your dash to come to a close.<\/span><\/p>\n
